We will be offering free log books for low pressure boiler systems soon.  Does anyone have any suggestions regarding how the log books should be set up?

Please post your suggestions as replies to this post.

Thanks in advance,

Reed

I think we are going to do log books for high-pressure plants too.  Somebody must have a suggestion.  Anybody?

I want to add suggested preventive maintenance and regular operating tasks, so suggestions along those lines would be appreciated.

I realize that this is an older post, but I can't locate any sample logs over at the DOLI site.  I am using a log that I believe is very comprehensive for my system, that I made up myself.  Our insurance inspector came through the other day and was telling me that I should be using an old log that IMHO was pretty weak.  I questioned him as to where it came from and he indicated that it came from the DOLI site.  Of course I went and looked, but didn't find anything.  What floored me was that he totaly blew off the fact that there was any need for chemical treatment for our low pressure steam, heating boiler.  I would welcome any advice or critique of my log.

What my log includes:

Date

MUF meter reading

MUF used

Conductivity

Sulfite reading

Surface and Bottom blow amounts

Chemicals added

Checks performed - daily, weekly, monthly and anual

Notes

Initials
